The Fort Myers Beach Film Festival celebrates its 11th anniversary next week with five days of documentaries, shorts and feature-length dramatic films.
“We have screened some of the best in local, regional, national and international films to bring the most captivating films to our 2017 festival,” said Executive Director Janeen Paulauskis in a press release.
The festival takes place April 26-30 with a 2 p.m. opening ceremony Wednesday and then daily screenings at Beach Theater, 6425 Estero Blvd., Fort Myers Beach. Workshops with visiting filmmakers take place Friday and Saturday, April 28-29.
Then there’s the popular, family-friendly Film on the Bay on Friday, April 28. This year’s film — Disney’s “Moana” — will be screened at the historic Mound House, 451 Connecticut St., Fort Myers Beach. Admission is free and open to the community.
The fest closes Sunday, April 30, with a 2 p.m. awards ceremony at the theater. The winning films will then be re-screened.
Tickets are $7 per screening, $30-$40 for each workshop, and $150 for a VIP pass that includes the Friday workshop, all screenings and a festival T-shirt. Both the opening and closing ceremonies are free.
