Some of Cape Coral's most important residents are less than 12 inches tall, live underground and number in the hundreds.

With the 15th annual Burrowing Owl Festival at Rotary Park Environmental Center on Saturday,  you have the opportunity to learn more about this rare bird, which coincides with the start of nesting season.

The festival includes the first-time addition of the Mote Marine Mobile Education exhibit, live animals, bus tours to find the owl burrows, and demonstrations on burrow maintenance and starter burrows.  Artists, photographers and craft vendors of all things natural, native and wild will have lovely items for sale. Children will enjoy the free arts and crafts activities at the Children’s Creative Corner. Also on site will be music and food vendors, so plan to spend the day.

Proceeds will go toward local wildlife protection, preservation and education.
